There's a couple rumors posted on Finnish newsmedia per the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! guys. !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! 's one of the sites they linked as a source. I can't find squat on this in English, though, so take it with a grain of salt. "Financial difficulties" are the rumored reason.
I can't imagine many Finns would be all that happy with Lotus right now after not paying Kimi, so there's that, too. Is anyone seeing anything more on this?
This would suck for Grosjean. Maldonado...ehhhhh, I'm less concerned with him. Heh.

Why would Team Lettuce drop out? They got $ponsor Maldonado's money.

Badonado's money only covers about a third of the budget. Take in what they owe from 2013 and that puts them in pretty bad shape. I do think them dropping out is unlikely though.

That's what I'm thinking—this plus the lack of other news makes me think this is just a bum rumor.

Ilta-Sanomat isn't the most reliable news source, but they do usually have the freshest F1 gossips in Finnish media.
In the article they mention that Lotus is still without engine contract, they owe money to part manufacturers and there are employees leaving the team.

Yeah, this smelled fishy when I saw it, too.
